I write about what I view at any sitting regardless of movie dates. My Millennial-aged children are my balcony guests and jury. I rate the flicks as an average dude, according to our 3 opinions from worst = SAFETY to the best = TOUCHDOWN. Check it out! You might see something that will save you time during your next channel-flipping session. {SPOILER ALERT at your own risk, but I do my best to save the suspense.}

The Addams Family (1991) & "_" Values (Part 2, 1993) - Retro that Works
I hated this cult T.V. series as a kid. It was like a copycat of The Munsters. This movie is cool Gothic now with a suspenseful plot. The actors even successfully invoked the dead roles of these past icons. As a first, this remake competes with the original cast! How did they do this, actor for actor??? Only one Oscar and Golden Globe nomination? THAT'S WHY WE BLOG, because the experts don't know anything!
It scored a great hit with my Millennial balcony. Of course, they loved all the macabre dark humor. Retro doesn't always work for me after growing up with the original, but this movie won me over too.
It's the Monsters vs. civilization. Fester (Christopher Lloyd) returns after a long absence. He's being manipulated by a con artist, "Dr. Pinder-Schloss" (Elizabeth Wilson), to believe that he's actually her son. She convinces him, in league with the neighbor judge (Paul Benedict) and the Addams' lawyer (Dan Hedaya), to take over and evict the Addams.
It all goes the way of movies too great to complete a full trilogy like the Conan films. They quit while they were ahead and didn't go for a part III with the same cast. After some Hollywood drama, 2 more movies were later made, piggybacking on the stellar fame of the first 2.
I give this a 'pylon TOUCHDOWN', since my teens insist on pushing it through. It masterfully duplicated a family classic in its entirety and possibly made it better for more generations to come--a daunting task across the decades!
